Entrance to Vanderbilt Market
Bello & Angelo
LOCATION: Bello and Angelo (Vanderbilt Market, 230 Park Ave, New York, NY 10017)
GUEST(S): Rodney Umble, Martha Garza
ORDER: 2 slices of Cheese, 1/2 slice of Stinger, 1/2 slice of Burrata, 1/2 slice of Cacio e Pepe
REVIEW:
Pizza: the best form of flattery. Bello and Angelo in Vanderbilt Market could be the trendiest pizza near New York’s Grand Central primarily because of its homage to other "trendy" up-and-coming pizza institutions. The food booth does an uncanny rendition of a L’industrie’s burrata slice, a cheese slice like Best Pizza and a white slice so similar to Fini that it even comes with a lemon wedge to squeeze on it. But, instead of traveling to these Brooklyn originals or waiting in line, Bello and Angelo will churn it out in under 90 seconds in the heart of Manhattan. And these imitations don’t just look good, they taste great. The people behind Bello and Angelo have done their research. Excellently sourced ingredients, high heat PizzaMaster electric ovens and well trained staff are recipes for success. I recommend a cheese slice and something unique like the hot honey "Stinger" not unlike Roberta's Bee Sting. Pair it with one of the many beverage options in the upscale food hall, grab a seat in the communal dining area and enjoy. I look forward to my return visit to Bello and Angelo.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Sean Taylor, Rodney Umble, Martha Garza
1. Rodney Umble and Martha Garza got married since the last time I had pizza with them (exactly two years ago today).
Swag Sean
2. The Vanderbilt Market is typically closed at night but my visit to the pizzeria aligned with game 4 of the 2024 World Series. Because of that, ESPN partnered with Vanderbilt Market to stay open later and play the game on all of the TVs. This meant I got to see the game and leave with a bunch of ESPN swag.3. I only knew about this special night of pizza and baseball because Martha Garza works for Vanderbilt Market. She's also a foodie. Now I have a bunch of new recommendations of awesome places to get Chinese food, tacos, and Thai.
4. Rodney Umble is a Phillies fan. I am a Mets fan. But we're both fans of baseball so we want the World Series to go 7 games.
