DAY 13: OCTOBER 13th, 2024

LOCATION: Mo's General (620 Lorimer St, Brooklyn, NY 11211)

GUEST(S): Michael McLarnon

ORDER: 2 slices of bar pie with hot Italian sausage, 1/2 slice of Hawaiian (bacon, pineapple, jalapeño), 1/4 slice of White (Cremini mushroom, ricotta), 1/2 slice of Pepperoni

REVIEW:
Gimmie Mo!  In a neighborhood replete with outstanding pizzerias like Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s, it is hard to bring something new to the table. Newcomer Mo’s General fills pulls it off with their bar pies and much, much mo’. Other area pizzerias, like Ace’s, may have Detroit style pizza, but Mo’s General’s menu also features the thin and crisp bar pie, a spacious indoor dining room and plenty of dog-friendly outdoor seating. So, on a good weather day, grab a friend (or man’s best friend), order a bar pie with a side of some square specialty slices and enjoy it in this surprisingly serene sidewalk cafe. Expect the bar pie to be small and thin but pair well with your preferred beverage. The square slices, on the other hand, are thick and hearty with an outer layer of fried cheese edges - a signature of Detroit style pizza. My favorite is the pepperoni which comes coated with melted cheese, slightly charred spicy pepperoni cups, a flavorful tomato sauce and freshly cut basil. These premium ingredients combine with the filling-yet-light crust to make each bite better than the last. I look forward to my next visit to Mo’s General.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Sean Taylor and Michael McLarnon
1. Michael McLarnon just returned from a roadtrip that he took from his home in New York City to South Dakota and back. Some of the notable stops were Chicago (where he ran a half marathon), Madison (where he visited the state capital), the Badlands, and Mt. Rushmore!

Game ball!
2. I played a softball game with my Williamsburg Softball Fall team called Propaganda.  We won!  And I was lucky enough to be awarded the game ball. Then I ate pizza at Mo's General - and all around good day.
