DAY 12: OCTOBER 12th, 2024

LOCATION: Parla (320 Columbus Ave, New York, NY 10023)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman

ORDER: 3 slices of Burrizzi (basil pesto, mozzarella, burst cherry tomatoes, burrata, aged balsamic), 3.5 slices of Hot Hunny (tomato sauce, pepperoni, mozzarella, stracciatella, calabrian chili honey)

REVIEW:
Gab and grub. Taking its name from the Italian word for “to talk,” Parla is the new pizza parlor on Manhattan’s Upper West Side you should go to meet up for some good drinks, great conversation and even better pizza. Whether it's a date night, a boozy brunch, or even a post-work hang, Parla has you covered. From the stone milled Italian flour that is fermented over 24 hours, to the New Jersey tomatoes and New York mozzarella, a lot of thought has gone into each pizza. Every single component that goes into their circular and square pies has been meticulously sourced, precisely prepared, and expertly baked in an electric oven so all you need to do is enjoy it. I give the edge to the square pie, no pun intended. Parla’s rendition of a Detroit style, complete with generous amounts of savory tomato sauce and frico (fried cheese) is superb. The crisp crust is filling, yet light and serves as the ideal foundation for the premium ingredients. I recommend going with a friend and getting one of Parla’s signature pies like the pesto, balsamic and burrata Burrizzi pie and one more traditional pizza like the NY Classic and forgetaboutit. Be sure to make a reservation since the word is out on Parla and that word is “delicious.”
