DAY 27: OCTOBER 27th, 2020

LOCATION: Evel Pie (508 Fremont St, Las Vegas, NV 89101)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman, Lily Rothman, Paul Rothman

ORDER: 2 slices of Cheezy Rider, 1 slice of BBQ Pulled Pork

REVIEW:
Nightlife slice. Conveniently located between the Fremont Experience and Container City in Las Vegas's Old Strip, Evel Pie serves pizza to the masses until well after midnight. One step into the joint reveals that its not a typo, this place is all Evel Knievel, all the time - with a side of pizza. Given the amount of foot traffic in the area, Evel Pie doesn't have to be good, but it is! Choose between a giant slice from any one of a multitude of signature pies by the slice or order a fresh giant pie of your own. The crust beneath gets thicker as it approaches the outer edge but remains sturdy enough throughout to hold the creative ingredients. With toppings like Man Candy Bacon, BBQ Pulled Pork and Rattlesnake sausage, this pizzeria might be as daring as its namesake. Evel's son, Kelly Knievel, and the estate are partners in this culinary endeavor hence the treasure trove of Evel swag ranging from photographs to a pinball machine. Since the pandemic, Evel Pie has made some accommodations to prioritize the health and safety of both their staff and customers by spacing out the tables in the dining area and keeping the front door and windows wide open. Once things are back, Evel Pie will resume being in the right place at the right time.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Sean Lily, Robin, Paul
1. We had a pizza picnic in the car between Evel Pie and the immersive theatre experience called Horrorwood Video. It was drive-in scary Halloween fun.

2. While I watched the World Series, Robin converted the cat tree into a standing workstation for her online musical improv show.

3. The lights of the old strip are so beautiful. It will be nice to walk amongst them once the pandemic is behind us.
