ORDER: 2 slices of Mexicana (tomato sauce mozzarella, corn, jalapeños, pork shoulder farm style)
REVIEW:
Good pizza, no lie. Located where the Cuale River Market meets the Malecon boardwalk, Pinocchio finds itself in one of the heaviest foot trafficked areas of Puerto Vallarta. Many walk through the outdoor seating area without seeing any more than the little wooden boy figurine out front. Those lucky enough to notice either the wood-fired oven just inside or the pizza on the tables outside recognize that Pinocchio is more than just a little wooden boy. The well-distributed toppings upon the expertly baked thin crust are as good tasting as they are good looking. I recommend trying something with local ingredients. The Mexicana, for instance, comes topped with marinated pork shoulder, yellow corn, melted mozzarella cheese, a thin layer of tomato sauce and sliced jalapeños. It is also served with a side of chili oil if the jalapeños are not spicy enough. In between shopping and basking in the excitement of Puerto Vallarta, take a moment to relax and eat some Pinocchio pizza. Paradise and pizza are a great combo.
