DAY 25: OCTOBER 25th, 2019

LOCATION: La Barra Cerveceria (Av. Paseo de la Marina Sur # 163, Marina Vallar)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman, Paul Rothman, Lily Rothman

ORDER: 2 slices of Mexican Beer (Ham, tomato, onion, Mexican sausage, jalapeño, and guacamole)

REVIEW:
Puerto Vallar-style pizza. Spanish for "the Beer Bar," La Barra Cerveceria also serves some of the best bar-style pizza in Puerto Vallarta. According to Serious Eats guide to pizza styles, the flaky underside might classify it more as a midwest style but, then again, the use of local ingredients and the sesame seed crust might mean La Barra Cerveceria is defining its own style of pizza. And it's good. Take for example, the Mexican Beer signature pie.  For the record, it contains zero percent actual beer. Instead, it comes loaded with ham, onion, chorizo, and jalapeños with a huge dollop of guacamole in the center. The firm biscuity undercrust is baked in a gas powered oven resulting in a uniquely filling and fulfilling pizza experience.  I have no doubt the numerous beer options at this brewpub pair well with the food but to call it merely a "beer bar" is burying the leade. La Barra Cerveceria has great pizza - much more enjoyable than your average pub fare. It is listed as upscale but with a strong dollar and the high caliber of food, I think it is a bargain.  Located a mere block from the Marina Vallarta, it is also convenient.  So, as soon as your boat docks in Puerto Vallarta, head to La Barra Cerveceria and get yourself some pizza!

1. Logistically, La Barra Cerveceria was the closest pizza place to the marina slip from which our excursion to swim with the dolphins embarked.

About to swim with dolphin look
2. I cannot recommend the Wildlife Connection tour enough.  I swam among a pod of 10 dolphins.  I was close enough to hear them chirp and click. I dove down deeper and they swam alongside me encircling me. They seemed to be enjoying swimming with me - except for the one that crapped on me.
