Day 26, 2014: B-Side (Hell's Kitchen, NYC)

DAY 26: OCTOBER 26th, 2014

LOCATION: B-Side (370 51st Street, Hell's Kitchen, NYC)

GUEST(S): Lance Kushner, Jorelle Aronovich, Zander Wahl, Alyssa See,  Chico Ithier, Cat Alves, Jerry Hoak, Katie Hoak, Taiine Santiago, Cyrus Footman, Helaine Kushner, Eli McCarrel, and the greatest fans on earth

ORDER: 3 slices of Marge (tomato, mozzarella, basil, oregano, sea salt), 1 slice of Spicoli (tomato, mozzarella, roasted mushrooms, caramelized onions, parmesan), 1 slice of You Got a Lot a' Balls (tomato, meatballs, mozzarella, taleggio, oregano, peppers)

REVIEW:
Exciting bar with exquisite food.  B-Side is new in town but the hip wood-fired pizza bar may just be the perfect answer to the age-old question "what do you want to do after work?" Whether you want a meet up in Hell's Kitchen with some co-workers for a drink, eat something charming with your date, or just grab a fancy cocktail at the bar, the answer is B-Sides.  The pristine dining area provides seating options that cater to patron needs while the friendly waitstaff and talented pizzaioli take care of everything else.  Creatively named and topped pizza options combine high quality ingredients in both a traditional and unconventional way to produce a flavorful product every single time.  The topping drift and bits of char on the crisp-yet-chewy crust hint at just how hot the Naples style wood-fired brick oven bakes.  I recommend going with a group and sharing the pies as they come out.  Start with the Marge, B-Sides informal take on the Margherita, then mix it up a little.  The Meat Packing, for instance, is topped with just about every meat in the salumeria.  I also enjoyed the meatballs on the You Got A Lot a Balls pie.  It is also a funny one to order out loud. Gut-busting in two ways.  Wash it down with a fine wine, a top flight craft beer, or a digestif.  I know what I want to do after work and it's go to B-Side.

MISCELLANEOUS:

2014 Fall Champs
1. My softball team, the Blue Balls, won our fourth Co-ed #1 Division High Arc softball championship immediately before eating the pizza.
2. We had all three captains (Jorelle, Lance, and me) in the dugout for the first time all season.  This was no easy task considering Jorelle is seven months pregnant, Lance pushed back his business trip to China and I delayed my knee surgery to do so.
Dinner of Champions
3. A good chunk of the softball team came out after the game and brought friends and family.

4. A friend named John Mabey gifted me some pizza socks which served us well in our final day of the season.  I went a combined 6 for 7 with four RBIs and three runs scored.
