DAY 17: OCTOBER 17th, 2008 - Adrienne's Pizzabar

DAY 17: OCTOBER 17th, 2008

LOCATION: Adrienne's Pizzabar (54 Stone St., NYC)

ORDER: 2 slices of an old fashioned Pepperoni, 2 slices of Margherita

GUEST(S): Joey Dembner, Shawn Amaro

PIZZA REVIEW:Hip, reasonable, and delicious. How dare a pizza place offer a high quality brick oven product in the heart of the financial district at an affordable price! Adrienne's unapologetically breaks all the norms. Using high quality toppings typically is a means to cover a poorer quality base - not at Adrienne's. They serve nothing but the most flavorful ingredients atop a crust which uniquely straddles a line between Sicilian and Neopolitan. Erratic topping distribution enables the consumer to experience the deliciousness of every element of the pie's composition. Savory tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and spicy pepperoni adorned my favorite slices. Adrienne's "old fashioned" offers a hip "new" take on an aging delicacy. Of course, while eating a more traditional margherita pie, my tastebuds confirmed that Adrienne's can do it all. I will be back!

MISC.:
1. Joey Dembner used to live in the area and even told me some historical facts about the buildings surrounding Stone Street. I was so focused on the pizza that I either forgot them or mixed 'em up. One of them had to do with a Dutch-India house.

2. This trip to Adrienne's was Shawn Amaro's second trip in less than a week. His beard made the first trip, but not the second.
