DAY 12: OCTOBER 12th, 2008
LOCATION: Bellini (83rd St and Columbus Ave, NYC)
ORDER: 2 slices of mushroom, 2 slices of pepperoni, 2 slices of cheese
GUEST(S): Chuck Divak, Alana O'Brien, Robin Rothman
PIZZA REVIEW:
A belly full of Bellini. Think there's no BYOB friendly brick oven Italian food places in the Upper West Side? Think again. Bellini offers gas-powered brick oven pizza with some of the spiciest pepperoni around. Spicy enough to both overcome the tame fresh mozzarella cheese and complement the tangy tomato sauce. A single large (16") pizza will serve two, even if neither one of you are able to gnaw through the rapidly-stiffening outer crust. I guess you pun-lovers could say that Bellini is a solid place for a solid pizza...I only wish it were closer.
MISC.:
1. I spoke Turkish to the owner who is from Istanbul. I lived in Izmir, Turkey when I was nine and ten years old.
2. We went to Bellini on Chuck Divak's recommendation. Upon arrival he realized that he meant another place down the road but we went here instead.
3. Alana O'Brien was unable to join us for a softball game after dinner. A game we (Chuck and I) lost... ruining our undefeated record.
