REVIEW:
Ops, they did it again! Born in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Ops has spawned a new restaurant in Manhattan’s East Village. Fortunately, they brought along their menu of high-quality Neapolitan pizzas — and that effortlessly date-worthy vibe — with them. The surprisingly spacious setup offers plenty of options: seats on the sidewalk for some prime people-watching, a cozy café section just inside, the main dining room tucked behind it, and even more space at the full bar. Sure, there are other items on the menu, but the pizza is clearly the main event. I recommend bringing three friends (a double date, perhaps?), ordering at least one of the thin and crisp Tavernetta pies (aka “bar pies”) to share as an appetizer, and then three of the individual-sized specialty pies for the main course. You can’t go wrong with the traditional Margherita, but if you’re feeling adventurous, “op”t for a signature pie like the Trapanese, which comes loaded with a trapanese (almond and tomato based) pesto, artichoke, fontina and arugula — all securely supported by that perfectly blistered, electric-oven crust. Expect Manhattan dinner date prices, but rest assured: no matter how the date goes, the pizza will be a success.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Sean Taylor, Ron Palais, Ange DeManti, Robin Rothman
1. Ron Palais was recently in a feature length independently produced movie called CAPER. He's excellent in it! See it soon at a theater (that it is playing in) near you. Details at https://www.caperfilm.com/
2. Ange DeManti read 260 books last year and 70 this year.
3. Robin Rothman has a knack for ordering anything on the menu that has either been eliminated from the menu or has run out. This didn't happen at the pizzeria but it did where we went for dessert...twice!
