LOCATION: Pat's Pizza (628 S Clark St, Chicago, IL 60605)
GUEST(S): Robin Rothman
ORDER: 10 pieces of 12" thin crust cheese and sausage
REVIEW:
Downtown outpost of Chicago thin crust institution. Although I haven’t been to the original Pat’s Pizzeria and Ristorante in Wrightwood Neighbors, the centrally located franchised pick-up and delivery outpost on Clarke Street makes me want to. Sure there are other items on the menu from appetizers to desserts, but when award-winning Chicago thin crust is available, get it! I recommend ordering a 12 inch pie per person with no more than one salty topping (like sausage or olives), light cheese and extra sauce. If people want the same topping, a 16 inch should feed two. Then let the well-trained pizza maker and the electric conveyor oven do the rest. Soon your firm-yet-chewy crust will arrive piping hot and sturdily holding up the melted mozzarella cheese and generously distributed toppings. Although there aren’t many seats and no public restroom, Pat’s Pizza passes the savings on to the consumer by offering their ultra thin and crisp entrees at reasonable prices. Assuming this downtown Pat’s Pizza is a calling card for the 1950 original, I can’t wait to come back and sit down at the original Pat’s Pizzeria and Ristorante.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Robin Rothman, Sean Taylor
1. Robin Rothman and I began the day on the border of Ohio and Indiana and drove to O'Hare International Airport (~4 hours) but couldn't go through Chicago without stopping for pizza. We opted for the thin crust since we anticipated grabbing a Chicago Italian beef sandwich for dessert. Unfortunately, rain and traffic foiled our plan. My dessert wound up being a ginger ale and a bag of chips.
2. One of the greatest feelings in the world to me is dropping off a rental car completely undamaged. It immediately makes my day.
