DAY 4: OCTOBER 4th, 2017

LOCATION: Speedy Romeo (63 Clinton St, New York, NY 10002)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman

ORDER: 2 slices of K.C. Royale (Béchamel, Clams, Pancetta, Kale, Fontina, Lemon), half of a personal size St. Louie (San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Provel, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Pickled Chilis)

REVIEW:
Trying to catch up. The Brooklyn grill and pizzeria named after race horse Speedy Romeo has sired a newer, bigger, hipper, and more ambitious Manhattan offspring.  Seating over a hundred people at a time and serving wood-fired pizza, craft brews, creative cocktails, and a full menu of high quality dishes, Speedy Romeo LES endeavors to earn its place as and institution like its predecessor did before. Not forgetting its humble roots, the menu contains many of the proven fan favorites. I recommend the St. Louie pie which is cut "tavern style" into squares and features provel - a cheese consisting of provolone, swiss, and cheddar.  Like the St. Louie, many of the signature pies include both traditional and non-traditional pizza toppings for a taste that is both unique and exquisite.  Once the pizzaioli master the behemoth wood-fired oven that looms in the back of the restaurant, expect a soft-yet-firm oven kissed crust and an even bake on the top of each one. Bring an appetite for an amazing dining experience and plenty of money, after all, this is Manhattan now.

Day 4

MISCELLANEOUS:
Sean and Robin
1. Robin Rothman and I got pizza after we performed at Variety Underground. I hosted it and she guest co-hosted it and even improvised a catchy theme song.
Co-host/houseband Robin Rothman
2. Robin also performed the song "Pizza Man" to close out the show.  The pun-filled song makes me blush but I appreciated it given that it is National Pizza Month.

3. We were lucky enough to have show attendees that came to Variety Underground directly from Slice Out Hunger (New York City's biggest pizza party).
