LOCATION: Artichoke (111 MacDougal St., NYC)
ORDER: 1 slice of twice baked Sicilian Margherita
GUEST: Jason Rothman, Robin Rothman
REVIEW:
A great slice when you need it most. Artichoke in the West Village provides ultra late night high quality slices to late night partygoers, local residents, and discerning pizza enthusiasts. In addition to Artichoke arsenal of Margherita, Artichoke & Spinach, and Sicilian, the West Village outpost offers a vodka sauce Sicilian style slice as well as a meatball option. All are made with high grade cheese, and a unique sauce recipe baked in a gas powered deck oven atop a sturdy, slightly charred crust. I recommend the Margherita. Both the Sicilian and standard slice feature a rich tomato sauce, a blend of grated and mozzarella cheeses, and an ample supply of basil. The namesake, the Artichoke, is loaded with creamy artichoke and spinach and tends to be a favorite amongst the post-partying crowd.
RATING:
14.5/18 = .806 x 5 = 4.03
MISCELLANEOUS:
1. Jason Rothman is Robin's cousin and the first one that noticed when the camera pointed our direction during a Mets-Phillies baseball game last month. He snapped a photo on his phone and sent it to us...
2. The bars on MacDougal St. and Bleecker St. are much quieter and have better drink specials during the afternoon than at night.
3. There is a new Artichoke at Terminal C (Main Terminal) at LaGuardia Airport. :)
