REVIEW:
More than Happy Hour! Who says Happy Hour has to end at the bar? At Lloyd’s Restaurant and Lounge in Atlanta, the fun keeps going straight through to the pizza. This retro-style spot looks like it’s been waiting for you since the 1970s—with cozy booths, shiny wood paneling, and a laid-back lounge vibe that makes every seat feel like the right one. The pizza matches the mood: big, foldable slices of classic pizza-parlor style pies, glistening under the lights with just the right amount of pepperoni-cup grease. It’s the kind of old-school slice that triggers instant nostalgia and requires multiple napkins. Lloyd’s electric ovens crank out extra-large pizzas featuring everything from the usual meats and veggies to an ever-changing “pie of the month” for those who like surprises. I went for it and was greeted with a Peruvian Chicken pizza with sweet potato, pickled red onion and cilantro. Me gusta! I also couldn't resist the signature pepperoni pie which was also delightful. Next time I’ll try it baked well-done with extra tomato sauce just to see how far they can take it. Between the booths, the bar, and the outdoor seating, Lloyd’s works just as well for a family dinner as it does for a casual hang with friends or coworkers. Fair warning: word’s already out. We arrived just after opening and the place was nearly full within the hour. So what are you waiting for?

MISCELLANEOUS:
Marc Smith, Robin Rothman, Sean Taylor
1. Marc Smith and I played softball for the 92Y Blues and another team regrettably called the Blue Balls. He's a powerful lefty and a bonus to any team - provided you don't need him to slide. He's done with that - and has good reason.
2. After pizza, I dropped Robin Rothman off at the airport so she could fly back home to NYC. Then I drove the final two hours of my day's journey to my dad's house in Reynolds Lake Oconee.
