REVIEW:
An imminent classic. Mark Iacono, owner of Lucali and of three Slicey Awards, recently opened a square slice joint called Baby Luc’s in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. When one of the most renowned round shaped pizza chefs opens up a square shaped pizzeria, it’s only a matter of time before its among the best squares in town. The premium toppings are reason enough to join the throngs of people lined up around the block most any night of the week. Bread and bubble lovers will be pleased to find plenty of crust to accompany the special tomato sauce, imported Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, and post oven fresh basil. My favorite slice was the spicy pepperoni cups though the savory-sweet sausage was a close second. Anything you order at Baby Luc’s is going to be good it’s more a matter of when you should get it. I recommend arriving on a good weather weekend afternoon to avoid the rush and eat at one of the many family-friendly outdoor seating options. The sky is the limit for Baby Luc’s and I can’t wait to go back.
