GUEST(S): Melanie Dasher, Taylor Dasher, Kitzi Taylor, Russ, Annie, Daphne

ORDER: 1 slice of Classic (pepperoni, sausage, roasted mushrooms, banana peppers & tomato sauce), 1 slice of Thai (shrimp, toasted coconut, Thai curry sauce, lime, cilantro & basil), 1 slice of Street Corn (tajín, seasoned corn, jalapeños, parmesan, lime, cilantro, scallions & chipotle crema), 1 slice of Chicken Gouda (applewood smoked bacon, red onions, chicken, gouda, chipotle crema & scallions)

REVIEW:
Friends, family, and beyond. The Pies & Pints location in Carmel, Indiana is one of those places that manages to be a pizzeria, bar, and family restaurant all at once—and somehow pulls it off. With a full menu, spacious dining areas, and a well-stocked bar, it’s the kind of spot that works just as well for a post-work drink as it does for a post–Little League celebration or a casual “just because” pizza night. The kids can keep it classic with the large House Pie—mozzarella, provolone, and tomato sauce—while the grown-ups (and any adventurous eaters in training) dive into the creative specialty pizzas. The topping list reads like a global pantry: corn, tajín, shrimp, gouda, gorgonzola, jalapeños, and even pineapple all make appearances. Pies & Pints combines them into flavor-forward, topping-centric creations that somehow stay balanced on a thin, cornmeal-dusted crust baked in a rotating electric brick oven. The crust may look substantial, but it holds its own without feeling heavy. Whether you go for a 10-inch or 16-inch pie, expect to leave full and happy. Add in the friendly service and spotless dining room, and you’ve got a solid place to enjoy pizza with pretty much anyone—friends, family, and beyond.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Sean Taylor, Annie, Daphne, Kitzi Taylor, Melanie Dasher, Russ, Taylor Dasher

1. Annie races her neighbor home every day from the bus even though the neighbor isn't aware they're racing.

Daphne

2. Daphne gave an impromptu TED talk on the subject of Halloween with emphasis on Trick-or-Treating during the World Series game and even had a Q&A afterward.

3. Russ filled me on all the lingo kids in junior high are using. He told me at least 6, 7 different things.

4. Melanie Dasher gave me a tour around their brand new awesome house. Seeing Melanie completed my mission of seeing all three of my siblings and both of my parents in a single Pizza Month. It only took 8 days, five states, a train, a plane and an automobile.

5. Taylor Dasher built a wooden cat rolling toy faster than it took me to figure out how to help.

6. I peppered Kitzi Taylor with trivia questions on our drive from Columbus to Carmel today. She really knows her literature answers.
