GUEST(S): Robin Rothman
ORDER: 5.5 slices of an 8" Korean Chicken (LEDO Sauce, Smoked Provolone, Gochujang marinated chicken and drizzled with Gochujang pepper sauce, Pickled Red Onions, Pickled carrots), 4 slices of Cheese (Smoked Provolone, Ledo sauce)
REVIEW:
A classic and a rebel. Since 1955, Ledo Pizza has been making pizza their own way and, in doing so, expanding the definition of a classic pizzeria. Sure it's still cheese, sauce and crust but Ledo's signature cheese is smoked provolone, not mozzarella. The tomato sauce is more sweet than savory and the pies are thin, rectangular, flaky and crisp as opposed to a traditional round, breadier crust. And then there are the toppings which range from just cheese to just about anything else in the kitchen. I had a Korean Chicken "craft" pizza topped with Gochujang pepper sauce and pickled carrots and onions - and I liked it. And I'm not alone. Ledo Pizza's has over 100 locations all along the East Coast of the United States. It's different but also good. Like me, Ledo Pizza was born in Maryland but now lives in New York City. Perhaps that is why I have a soft in my heart for them next to the recently full spot in my stomach - thanks, Ledo Pizza.

Robin Rothman and Sean Taylor
1. Robin Rothman and I were supposed to be at Citi Field watching one of the last Mets games of the regular season but rain canceled it...and our initial pizza plan.
2. Speaking of Robin and baseball, she recently performed "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch of a Staten Island Ferryhawks game.
