Day 3, 2021: Anna Maria Pizza & Pasta (Williamsburg, Brooklyn)

DAY 3: OCTOBER 3rd, 2021

LOCATION: Anna Maria Pizza & Pasta (179 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211)

GUEST(S): Luke Starr

ORDER: 1 slice of grandma, half a slice of cheese, half a slice of pesto, tomato & fresh mozzarella

Quick and Convenient. Whether you are hopping between hip Williamsburg bars, looking for a late night slice or trying to grab a bite on the way to the subway, Anna Maria Pizza & Pasta has got you covered. Located steps from the Bedford L subway entrance, Anna Maria has been providing a variety of extra large slices since 1997 from lunch until the week hours of the morning. I recommend the plain cheese slice which is an above average version of the quintessential New York street slice complete with buttery low moisture mozzarella cheese, a slightly sweet tomato sauce and thin-foldable crust perfect to eat "on the go." But you could stay. There is a decent sized dining area and a no frills bathroom but even when the counter is busy I observed that most patrons opted not to eat-in (granted this could be because we're still in a pandemic).  The non-cheese slices are a little more expensive but much more filling. Anna Maria does not skimp on toppings. I had not visited this pizzeria since my first quest for the 31 Days of Pizza (19 years to the day) and was glad to see Anna Maria Pizza & Pasta was still around.

Day 3

Sean Taylor and Luke Starr

1. Luke Starr and I are teammates in Williamsburg Softball's Fall League.  We met today at Opening Day where our team showed real promise defeating our opponents 20 to 4.  Luke went 2 for 2 and I played in my first game since messing up my knee (which in itself is a win).

2. Luke recently moved to NYC to follow his heart. He also has dabbled in home brewing.
