DAY 12b: OCTOBER 12th, 2016

LOCATION: Denino's (93 MacDougal Street New York, NY 10012)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman, Ron Palais, Tony Carnevale, Noel Dinneen, Maddy Mako

ORDER: 1 slice of Garbage Pie (Sausage, Meatballs, Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Onions), 1 slice of Broccoli Rabe Pie (Sautéed Broccoli Rabe with Fresh Garlic and Olive Oil), 1.5 slice of Clam Pie (Fresh Garlic, Parsley and Olive Oil with a Sprinkle of Grated Cheese)

REVIEW:
A pizza institution turns insti-three-tion! Denino’s, a Staten Island favorite since 1937, has opened two new locations including one of them smack dab in the heart of the nightlife-loving Greenwich Village. Fortunately, they brought the recipe for the crisp and sturdy crust pizza that made them famous. The crust is so good, I would eat just about anything you put on it. Speaking of which, I recommend the Garbage Pie. Layered with the perfect amount of hearty meats including homemade sausage, savory tomato sauce and tasty veggies, the Garbage Pie embodies the ideal supreme pizza that well known pizza chains strive so hard to imitate. There is nothing like the real thing and Denino’s proves it with every pie.  Other signatures include high quality ingredients full of flavor like broccoli rabe and clams. A word to the wise: eat it while it's still hot and before the clam juice threatens to soggify the perfectly crisp crust. Bring your family or a date. The prices might be a little more expensive than in Staten Island, but after you try it, I think we’ll all agree life is better with more Denino’s.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Noel, Ron, Robin, Maddy, Tony

1. Noel Dineen has a podcast called "Get Rich Quick". I was lucky enough to be a guest on it.  It was the pizza episode.  Here is a link: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/radio-free-brooklyn/get-rich-quick-with-josh-noel/e/grq-028-pizza-42298439

2. Robin Rothman broke her Yom Kippur fast with Denino's pizza. Now she's ready well fed and ready to begin the New York Musical Improv Comedy Festival tomorrow that she has been preparing for all year.

3. Ron Palais and I are both New York Mets fans. We know this season is already over for us but that doesn't stop us from talking about the Wild Card game that eliminated our team. #lgm

4. Tony Carnevale loves Tucson, Arizona and his dog - who currently lives there. He also hosts a storytelling show called Taboo Tales.

5. Maddy Mako teaches a running class.
