LOCATION: Bono Trattoria (3658 Broadway, Harlem, NYC)
GUEST(S): Angela Demanti
ORDER: 2 slices of a personal sized Margherita, 2 slices of a personal sized Trapani (pesto, shrimp, zucchini, cherry tomatoes & mozzarella)
REVIEW:
Good now, potentially great! From the Latin for "good," Bono might soon be the next big thing in Harlem. The gorgeous wood-burning dome oven is not only visible from every area of the spacious dining area but serves as a welcoming beacon to passers-by. Having just opened their doors a mere months ago, Bono Trattoria is finding its footing by offering Roman style crisp crusted pizzas with high quality toppings for prices on par or lower than any gourmet pizzeria in the city. Unlike traditional Neapolitan style pizza, Roman style pizzerias place more emphasis on the creative ingredients than on the basic components. As the pizzaioli get more familiar with the oven, I am confident Bono will place emphasis on everything! In the meantime, try one of the signature pies like the Trapani which combines well-prepared pesto, succulent shrimp, sliced zucchini, sweet cherry tomatoes and creamy fresh mozzarella for a truly unique and delicious flavor. Next time I go, I have my sights set on the sweet sausage and roasted pepper pie called the Bona.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Hi, Ange! |
2. Angela is the second one of my pizza guests to recommend I listen to "You Made it Weird" by Pete Holmes. Pete, Angela, and I were all doing stuff at the UCB Theater in the early aughts so the interviews are not only funny but nostalgic.
