Day 7, 2012; Nonno's Focacceria (Roosevelt Island, NYC)

DAY 7: OCTOBER 7th, 2012

LOCATION: Nonno's Focacceria (Roosevelt Island, NYC)

ORDER: 1 slice of cheese

GUEST: Cyrus Footman

REVIEW:

A good choice despite there not being much to choose from.  Nonno, Italian for "Grandpa," inspired me to opt for the Grandma slice.  The crispy thin Sicilian crust supported the copious amount of rich tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese.  Colored and slightly seasoned with diced basil the savory concoction was consumed at a rapid rate.  Although appearances can be deceiving, the standard slices looked much less appetizing then the slice I ate.  So, when in Grandpa's, order the Grandma.

MISCELLANEOUS:
1. Cyrus Footman and I are both on the same fall softball team, the Blue Balls.  We won earlier today thanks to several long line drives by my left-handed pizza guest.
2. From the exterior of Nonno's you can look at Queens on  your left and Manhattan on your right.  Pretty cool.
3. I flew back from Atlanta early this morning and was thrilled to get the window seat...even though my view was partially obstructed by the jet engine
