DAY 5: OCTOBER 5th, 2012
LOCATION: Lupi's (Cleveland, TN)
ORDER: 1/2 slice of Happy Margherita, 1/2 slice of Herb Chicken with Avocado
GUEST: Russ Dasher, Melanie Taylor Dasher, Bud Dasher, Kitzi Taylor, Robin Rothman
REVIEW:
Tons of Toppings! Lupi's, a local Tennessee chain, offers pick-up, dine-in, and carry-out pizzas with a vast array of topping options. Everything from Avacado to Zucchini can be ordered on a slice or pie in addition to the signature pizzas. I recommend the Happy Margherita which features a thick coating of creamy fresh mozzarella, thinly sliced plum tomatoes, and coated with a dense layer of diced basil. All of the pies come served on a sturdy yet chewy crust, slightly charred in the gas powered deck ovens. The underside reveals a lighter color indicated an uneven heat. Some of the toppings are much more ambitious than tasty. The avocado, for instance, even when combined with the herb chicken provided a nice creamy texture but not much flavor. The eclectic non-intrusive music in the large dining area made Lupi's a great place not just for pizza but for socializing. Considering the cuisine, great price on beer, and ambiance, Lupi's would be an ideal spot for college age kids. I can attest that it is also family-friendly as I came with my family and everyone was very friendly.

Russ loved the gluten-free pizza--and he loved hanging out with two cool Manhattanites at Lupi's!
