DAY 2: OCTOBER 2nd, 2010
LOCATION: Eddie & Sam's N.Y. Pizza (Tampa, FL)
ORDER: 1 slice of cheese
GUEST: Mike McKinley
REVIEW:
A New York's street slice grows in Tampa. It turns out you don't have to visit the congested, tourist-lined streets to get orange oil running down your sleeve. Look no further than Eddie & Sam's N.Y. Pizza. By combining water imported from the Catskills with a family tomato sauce recipe, this Italian, family-run pizzeria creates a virtual portal to the Big Apple. The result is an authentic albeit average New York street slice. It is not on the same level as Suprema or Di Fara but according to the patrons it's "the best we got around here." There is definitely a general New York State of Mind aura surrounding Eddie & Sam's. Posters of the Empire State building, subway signs, Yankee hats, and various other NYC adornments further the point. I liked it and would definitely go back.

MISCELLANEOUS:
1. Mike McKinley and I went to High School together and sat at the same lunch table, the SS Lunchtable, that is. He was first mate and I was the Scurvy Dog. Sadly, this may have been my first nickname.
2. Unfortunately, there was an accident off in the distance just before we began shooting video of Tampa. It was a fender bender and can be seen on the left side of the opening shot of the video clip.
