DAY 24: OCTOBER 24th, 2008 - Figaro's

DAY 24: OCTOBER 24th, 2008

LOCATION: Figaro's Italian Restaurant (7900 Maple St., New Orleans)

ORDER: 1 slice of pepperoni, 3 slices of the Four Seasons pie (1 slice of artichoke and italian sausage, 1 slice of Margarita, 1 slice of plain cheese)

GUEST(S): Valerie Taylor and Matt Floyd

PIZZA REVIEW:
Another side of New Orleans. The city with old French Quarter culture, Bourbon Street frat boys, and Cajun Po Boys also has Italian fine dining. Figaro's, a fixture for 17 years in New Orleans is still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, but, thankfully, their recipe for pizza weathered the storm. Aside from its greasy sheen, the pepperoni pie provided me the most culinary satisfaction. I admire the creativity of the Four Seasons pie but I cannot deny my love for good tomato sauce - and Figaro's has it. The crust ranks right up there with other great Neopolitan style pizza bread as well. Figaro's cooks high quality products up and down the menu. Sure, i can only attest for the pizza, but If you are a Tulane or Loyola student looking to take a date some place nice (ie expensive) for dinner, Figaro's is a prime candidate. .

MISC.:
1. Valerie Taylor and Matt Floyd came down again from Baton Rouge for pizza and Hurricanes. A Hurricane is a drink invented at Pat O'Brien's and tastes delicious.

2. The video clip contains several New Orleans landmarks, can you spot them all?
