REVIEW:
Masterpieces & master pizzas. Opened in Midtown Manhattan back in 2011, PizzArte brings together two of Naples’ finest exports — pizza and art. The concept is simple: old-world Neapolitan pizza on your plate and modern Neapolitan art on the walls. The result? A gallery where you can eat the exhibits. The pristine, museum-like setting is rivaled only by the authenticity of the pies emerging from its imported Italian wood-burning oven. The menu balances tradition with creativity, and I recommend sampling from both sides. Each personal-sized pizza arrives piping hot with melted mozzarella, savory tomato sauce, and a picture-perfect ring of airy, leopard-spotted crust (known in Naples as the cornicione). In a nod to New York practicality, the pizzas here are pre-cut and baked a bit longer for a sturdier, crisper underside. Otherwise, a PizzArte pie is as close to Naples as you’ll get without leaving Midtown—only about 4,300 miles closer. My favorite was the Diavola, topped with spicy salami that packs just the right amount of heat. Pro tip: save your crusts for a dip in the chili oil—it’s worth the extra calories. Yes, the prices reflect the real estate, but considering the location and quality, PizzArte remains a worthy stop for tourists, date-nighters, and pizza pilgrims alike. With food and flair this refined, expect this gallery of pizza greatness to hang around for years to come.
