DAY 25: OCTOBER 25th, 2024

LOCATION: Lucia Pizza of SoHo (375 Canal St, New York, NY 10013)

GUEST(S): Valerie Corbett, Chris Simpson

ORDER: 2 slices of NY Plain, 1/3 slice of Papa Leone (vodka sauce), 1/3 slice of Spinach (cream of spinach, 3 cheese blend), 1/3 slice of Poblano Funghi (roasted poblano pepper crema, aged provolone and mushrooms), 1/3 slice of Pepperoni

REVIEW:
One of the hottest tickets in town. It’s always standing room only at Lucia of SoHo. Not only because there are no seats in the dining area, but because the line to get a slice of one of the most touted pizzas in town goes out the door and sometimes down the block. The word is out on this Manhattan outpost of the Sheepshead Bay original so expect a wait. Despite the queue, Lucia does a brisk business as the pizza crew is a fine tuned machine churning out top tier pizzas at an impressive clip. You can’t go wrong with any of the options on the letterboard menu as each are tried and true recipes. Using excellently sourced flour, a precise fermentation process, seasoned baking techniques, industry best ingredients and post-oven garnishes, Lucia of SoHo is producing some of the best pizza in New York City. Bread lovers will relish the thin, with a puffy outer edge, crisp crust that is sturdy enough to hold and fold. I like the creative slices but the NY plain is my favorite. The generous portion of savory sauce on these extra large slices will keep me coming back. If there were a restroom, I might never leave! Join me at Lucia of SoHo and see what all the fuss is about.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Sean Taylor, Chris Simpson, Valerie Corbett

1. In the past two Pizza Months, Chris Simpson has accompanied me to both locations of Lucia Pizza: today in SoHo and last year on Avenue X.

Valerie at pizzeria

Valerie at Harry Potter store with Butterbeer

2. I took two photos of my sister Valerie Corbett in two locations and both times Chris did his best "annoyed random background guy."  It's pretty good!

Valerie in Times Square

3. Since my sister is in from out of town, I took a requisite photo in Times Square but I did it in my iPhone's "Portrait" mode...so I might be an artsy photographer now.
