REVIEW:
Crackered the code on Midwest pizza. While perfecting their thin crust pizza, Zaffiro's has been inadvertently been helping to define Midwest style pizza from the Lower East Side of Milwaukee since 1954. Since, in Wisconsin, top quality meats and cheeses are plentiful, the crust primarily serves to contain and deliver a significant amount of toppings from the pan to the man. The fact Zaffiro's has found a way to make this crisp vehicle both sturdy and edible is a brilliant bonus! Cut "party style," or "hashtagged" for you millennials, the pie divides into rectangular strips ideal for sharing among others. I recommend ordering a large "special" which combines generous amounts of melted mozzarella, savory sausage, sliced mushrooms, and diced onions with just enough tomato sauce. The result is a great snack for three, or a hearty meal for one. Pair it with one countless local brews for a great taste of Milwaukee that has me looking forward to coming back.
