DAY 20: OCTOBER 20th, 2015
LOCATION: Nonna's (105 Clinton St., LES, NYC)
GUEST(S): Kitzi Taylor, Amanda Xeller, Michael McLarnon
ORDER: 1.25 slices of grandma, .25 slice of mushroom and truffle oil, .25 slice of balsamic vinegar, arugula, and portabello mushroom, one bite of a pear and gorgonzola
REVIEW:
Found in translation. In Italian, "nonna" means "grandma" - which is exactly what you should order at the Lower East Side pizzeria named Nonna's. The large, well-written overhead menus include sandwiches, appetizers, desserts and more, but don't forget your grandma! Twice baked into a cookie sheet then topped with a perfectly seasoned tomato sauce, three cheeses including a fresh mozzarella made in-house, and garnished with diced basil, Nonna's grandma slice transforms the simplest into the most delicious. For those that want to deny themselves the heavenly red sauce, other signature "white" pies include creative toppings such as pears, gorgonzola, homemade balsamic vinegar, mushrooms, and arugula. Despite the sheer size of the reasonably priced square slices, the gas powered crust remains sturdy-yet-light enabling patrons to order a second. Leftovers are sure to reheat well but I don't know for sure because I ate both of my grandmas.

MISCELLANEOUS:
|
Kitzi, Michael, and Amanda |
1. I got to eat pizza with people friends and family today. This is the first time I've had pizza with Amanda Xeller, one of the first dozen times I've had pizza with Michael McLarnon, and yet another one of the million times I have had pizza with Kitzi Taylor.

Photo-mom'd |
2. Michael McLarnon coined the term "Photo-mom'd" when you get photobombed by your mother.

Action shot |
3. My mom, Kitzi Taylor, is a photographer. Here is an "action shot" she took during our pizza date.
