Naples in the suburbs of Vegas. Settebello's certification as Vera Pizza Napoletana (VPN) signifies that not only do the ingredients come from the area around Naples but also the pizza preparation techniques adhere to the strictest and most authentic Neapolitan guidelines. Fortunately for the denizens of the nearby neighborhood, Naples style pizza is amazing! The Margherita, named after the Queen of Italy combines creamy fresh mozzarella cheese from the milk of an Italian water buffalo with a rich layer of San Marzano tomato sauce from the base of Mount Vesuvius on top of a hand-sculpted wood-fired brick oven crust. Green diced basil is added providing both a complementary garnish as well as the third color of the Italian flag. Legend has it, the original Margherita pie was prepared to these exact specifications back in the 1580's for the queen herself. It's nice to know that you can eat like a queen without having to travel across the globe and through time. And the Margherita is just the beginning. Settebello's ingredient list includes finnochiona (peppered salame), pancetta, roasted pine nuts, mascarpone, and artichoke hearts in addition to the more conventional toppings to create an arsenal of infinite possibilities. With time and familiarity with the oven, the sky's the limit in Henderson, Nevada. Look for a Settebello location near you, I know I will.
