LOCATION: Mozzarelli's (38 E. 23rd St, Flatiron District, NYC)
GUEST(S): Jen MacNeil Danenberg
ORDER: 1 slice of Margherita, quarter of a slice of Gluten Free Margherita
REVIEW:
The ever-accommodating menu. A decade after Mozzarelli's first started churning out NY style slices in the flatiron district, they still do...and a whole lot more. Since then, waves of pizza trends have hit the city and Mozzarelli's has adapted and incorporated them all. Whole wheat, low-carb, gluten-free slices can all be found under the long crystal clear glass counter. Finally, a pizzeria where you can meet a friend who has dietary restrictions! Armed with both a deck and brick oven, Mozzarelli's can do it all. According to their menu, they now feature bread crumbs, cookies, pasta, sandwiches, appetizers and desserts in addition to a fleet of crust styles that include spelt, honey-wheat, 12-grain and even pumpernickel. I recommend keeping it simple and going with a creamy fresh mozzarella and rich tomato sauce Margherita. If you're feeling creative, you're in luck. With the vast menu of options, you eat at Mozzarelli's every day and never get the same thing.
