Day 20, 2014: Casa Nonna (Hell's Kitchen, NYC)

DAY 20: OCTOBER 20th, 2014

LOCATION: Casa Nonna (310 38th St., Hell's Kitchen, NYC)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman

ORDER: 2 slices of Margherita, 2 slices of Parma (Margherita with Prosciutto and Arugula)

REVIEW:
Something for everyone. Italian for "grandmother's house," Casa Nonna is far more than a place to get pizza.  You won't need to go over the river and through the woods to get a warm welcome at this Hell's Kitchen restaurant.  Whether you want pizza at the counter, a multi-course meal in the dining area, or just a drink at the full bar, Casa Nonna is happy to accommodate.  Private rooms are even available for special events.  Of course, even just ordering a traditional Margherita is a special event when it's prepared by a skilled pizzaiolo in plain sight.  Watch from behind the counter as it transforms from a ball of dough into a crisp hand-crafted brick oven Neapolitan-style pizza loaded with rich San Marzano tomato sauce, and creamy buffalo fresh mozzarella cheese.  Adorn it with other high quality salumi (meats) and formaggi (cheeses) for a price that is on par or less than the market rate!  That's right.  Despite the menu's other decadent offerings, the pizza is more than reasonable.  If your own grandmother's house is not an option, you might as well settle for a luxuriously comfortable seat and the first class service of Casa Nonna.

MISCELLANEOUS:
a cat trap
1. Robin Rothman was excited to get home to create a "cat trap" which is nothing more than a polygon made with masking tape that a cat tends to wander into. Maryloo, our cat, does not follow the tendencies of most cats.  She doesn't play with boxes, cat nip has no affect on her and she seems completely uninterested in the masking tape polygon.
2. Robin and I chatted with our waiter and he claims he's gonna take part in Robin's Musical Mixer at the Magnet Theater tonight.

Sean, it was great to meet and serve you at Casa Nonna. I'm glad you liked the pizza. I went to Robin's mixer at the Magnet and had some hearty belly laughs. I'll be back there again soon! Thank you.
