DAY 4: OCTOBER 4th, 2025

LOCATION: Kid Pizza (157 W 18th St, New York, NY 10011)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman, Greg Turner, Steve Slate

ORDER: 2 slice of Tomato Pie (oregano, extra virgin olive oil), 2 slices of Babe: Pic in the City (mortadella, pistachio, ricotta, pesto), White Pie Al Limone pizza (cream, ricotta, meyer lemon, chili flakes), 1 slice of pepperoni (tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni)

REVIEW:
Where an adult can be a kid. Thanks to Kid, there is a new cute spot in the heart of Chelsea you can bring a date AND eat pizza! Sure there are salads, appetizers, other entrees, desserts and a full bar, but the individual sized Neapolitan pies are the main event. I recommend ordering a traditional pie like the cheese or pepproni cups pie and one of the more creative signature pies like the mortadella, pistachio, and pesto infused Babe: Pig in the City pie. The high quality ingredients, prepared by the expert pizzaiolo and baked in an electric oven results in a premium final product. Premium pizzas do come at premium price. There is a well-curated wine list, several local beers, and some signature cocktails if you want to pair your pizza with a drink. Enjoy your meal in the surprisingly spacious dining room has high ceilings and a unforgettable decor with multiple seating areas giving patrons the option to look out the window, sit at the bar, or bring the family.

MISCELLANEOUS:

1. At a Q&A, Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Michael Jackson (of STRANGE LOOP fame) credited grad school classmate Greg Turner with getting him to try his hand at writing musical theatre.

2. Steve Slate knows a lot about the human memory. He advocates doing novel things, as opposed to following routine, in order to remember things better. This is why our teen years are so chock full of memories whereas our thirties and beyond tend to fly by in an instant.

3. Robin Rothman recently discovered her love of the NYC cabaret community. She, performing as her alter ego Trudy Carmichael recently finished near the top in Mama's Next Big Act at Don't Tell Mama's Piano Bar. She'll now be performing in an upcoming showcase called the REP Awards at Don't Tell Mama's on November 1st. Here is a clip of her singing "Somebody to Love" by Queen that helped get her selected to perform: https://youtu.be/tGT5p9MRib8?si=VIOPB--_933eS0KP

4. After pizza, we revisited McManus, a bar near and dear to our early improv comedy days. Still a good time.
