REVIEW: 

Swede and savory. Döden may be the Swedish word for “death” but the Washington Heights pizzeria with that name is life! If you like pairing your brick oven pizza with local craft brews, sitting in a distinctly Scandinavian chair surrounded by monsters drawn on the ceiling, walls and gas-powered oven, then Döden is perfect. It’s also the only pizzeria I have ever been to where topping options include kimchi (Korean fermented cabbage), Gouda (Dutch cheese), chimichurri (Latin American green herb sauce), and sujuk (Turkish beef pepperoni). Whether you opt for one of these unique international signature pies or stick with something more traditional, you can expect an evenly baked - with just the right amount of char - individually sized pie with high quality ingredients and a side of pickled slaw that complements the pizza extraordinarily well. I recommend going with friends and trying as many of these creative concoctions as possible. Prices at Döden are reasonable and the experience, unforgettable!

1. It's Erik Tanouye's birthday. 

2. Erik and Diana once visited Hawaii during a hurricane.

3. After dinner, we got ice cream at the Sugar Hill Creamery. Robin Rothman loves dark chocolate and I wanted the something sweet so we settled on the Sweet Socialism (dark chocolate) and Tell it to the Block (cinnamon and hot-honey infused) and it was awesome.
