DAY 17: OCTOBER 17th, 2023
LOCATION: Rosa's Pizza (425 7th Ave, New York, NY 10001)
GUEST(S): Aaron Gold
ORDER: 1/2 slice of grandma, 1/2 slice of cheese, 1/2 slice of vodka square, 1/2 slice of upside-down
REVIEW:
A reliable NY name. Since 1975, the family owned Rosa’s Pizza has earned its reputation as a quality slice. The relatively young Chelsea outpost, owned by one of the sons of the original Maspeth, Queens location, is keeping with that tradition as well as adapting to the changing times. Specifically, its adapting to the rapidly rising Manhattan rents. Sharing its space with La Playa Bowls enables patrons the option of eating their slices at a table or on the go while keeping prices reasonable. And by situating itself on 7th Avenue just a few blocks from the bustling Penn Station, more people can enjoy the family recipes New Yorkers have been enjoying for generations. Those recipes involve generous amounts of melted mozzarella and tomato sauce layered upon a crisp-yet-light crust. I recommend the grandma and the upside down but you can’t go wrong with the classic New York slice from this classic New York name.
