DAY 5: OCTOBER 5th, 2022

LOCATION: BarDough (350 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman, Jacob Horn

ORDER: 2 slices of Hellboy (Plum Tomato Sauce, Parmigiano Reggiano, Mozzarella, Soppressata, Pancetta, Hot Spicy Honey), 1 slice of Margherita (Plum Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella or Cheese Blend, Fresh Basil), 2 slices of Pizza Alla Vodka  (Vodka Cream Sauce, Mozzarella, Prosciutto Di Parma, Mushrooms, Peas)

REVIEW:

Pizza as a chaser.  Located on "Restaurant Row" in the middle of New York City, BarDough raises the "bar" on "bar food" thanks to their "dough." Yes, the emphasis on cocktails, the volume of the music, the sports on the televisions and the prominently featured bar itself indicate that BarDough is, first and foremost, a tavern. But, there's more. Like a beacon, follow the brilliantly burning flames to the back. What might seem like a cozy fireplace is actually a state of the art gas-powered revolving brick oven, evenly baking personal sized pizzas! If you arrive with a guest, I recommend getting one conventional pizza like a Margherita and one of their creative concoctions like the Italian meat-heavy and hot honey infused Hellboy. You and your guest won't be disappointed but rather impressed. Not just with the taste but with the thin crust's ability to stand firm regardless of the amount of quality toppings layered upon it.  Not sure what to drink? The menu suggests drink pairings for each signature pie.  BarDough also helps save your dough by offering discounts for military, first responders and members of a show business union. On my next visit to BarDough, I look forward to trying the larger New York style pizzas also listed on the menu.
