Day 26, 2021: Public Display of Affection (Park Slope, Brooklyn)

DAY 26: OCTOBER 26th, 2021

LOCATION: Public Display of Affection (669 Union St, Brooklyn, NY 11215)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman

ORDER: 4 slices of 14" cheese pizza (red sauce, house mozzarella, basil, oregano, pecorino), 4 slices of 14" mushroom & robiola pizza (shiitake mushrooms, calabrian chilies, cotija, robiola, fresh arugula)

REVIEW:
Hot stuff for hot stuff. Steps away from the Union Street subway station is the most acceptable Public Display of Affection: one in the form of a pizzeria. With its wood-burning domed oven visible through the rustic windowed wall, Public Display of Affection welcomes passersby into its warm dining room and bar and provides an intimate space for friends and friendly people alike. Out of that oven exits some tasty pizza with a crisp thin-yet-sturdy crust topped with premium ingredients. I recommend getting something simple and something creative. The cheese pie, for instance, combines a savory red sauce with a cheese blend of house made mozzarella and pecorino then garnished with fresh basil. It is complex in its simplicity. On the creative front, I couldn't get enough of the mushroom & robiola pie. The cotija and robiola cheeses and shiitake mushrooms provided a nice counter-balance to the spicy calabrian chilies. On top of being tasty, convenient, and cute, PDA also offers a great selection of beer and wine to complete the meal. It's not cheap in any sense of the word but any meal here is a memorable one. Do what I did and take the object of your affection to Public Display of Affection.

Day 27

MISCELLANEOUS:

Sean & Robin
1. Robin Rothman and I were lucky to find seats outside and then even luckier that they were under an awning when the sky opened up.

2. After pizza, Robin Rothman and I went across the street to LittleField to watch a Hoff's Horrorfest screening of Return of the Living Dead. The movie was interspersed with fun videos and even a costume contest.  My costume (pizza slice) won me a package of gushers.  Robin was featured in one of the videos doing her impression of Dolly Parton.
