DAY 29: OCTOBER 29th, 2020

LOCATION: Aurelio's (6010 W Craig Rd #150, Las Vegas, NV 89130)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman, Lily Rothman, Paul Rothman, Armando Diaz

ORDER: 5 pieces of large thin with sausage and extra sauce

REVIEW:
Perfect 10, Chicago thin. It should come as no surprise that Aurelio's makes a model version of Chicago thin pizza since Aurelio's has been helping to define the style for over 60 years. A trademark Chicago thin pizza pie is round but cut into squares as opposed to slices.  It's the opposite of deep-dish. Since 1959, Joe Aurelio's family pizzeria has been perfecting its recipe so that it is crisp but not cracker-y and sturdy enough to support the generous amount of cheese and high quality toppings distributed upon it. Early on is also when Joe started using homemade sausage instead of pre-cooking it. If you eat meat, definitely get the sausage. I also encourage you to get it "well done with extra sauce" for golden baked cheese on a sweet bed of tomato sauce that is so good, they mention "It's the sauce" on every box. Judging by the fact there are well over 30 locations from Vegas to Florida, the word is out on Aurelio's. Some people travel the country to visit every baseball park, I'd like to do that with every Aurelio's.

MISCELLANEOUS:
Sean, Robin, Armando, Paul, Lily

1. Armando is from Chicago - very near the original location of Aurelio's. He first ate Aurelio's pizza when he was in grade school and has loved it ever since. For Pizza Month, he ordered it from the store so we could eat it "together from 2,000 miles apart."

2. We brought our own plates, napkins and drinks anticipating a search for a nearby park for a picnic.  Turns out, the strip mall where Auerlio's is located has several outdoor picnic tables meaning that we ate 15 feet away from the door to the pizzeria.
