Pizza Month 2020

October is National Pizza Month. In order to observe this month "the right way," I intend to eat at least one slice of pizza every day of it. I hope to learn from past experience (Pizza Month '02'03'04'05'06'07'08'09'10'11, '12'13, '14, '15, '16'17'18, '19) and make Pizza Month 2020 not just the latest, but the greatest 31 Days of Pizza known to [this] man...

And that promises to be much more difficult this year given that this is the first (and hopefully only) Pizza Month to take place in the middle of a nationwide pandemic. My heart goes out to the victims of this health crisis.  I contemplated canceling my annual quest for the 31 Days of Pizza but decided that I would try my best to adhere to the recommendations of the scientists and proceed as safely as possible.  To do so, I will be wearing a mask, physically distancing from anyone who is not in my pandemic pod (consisting of my wife and her parents), and practicing additional sanitary cleanliness measures to protect the pizza providers.  I plan on doing curbside pick-up (where possible), prioritizing mobile pizza ovens, making my own pizza, and connecting to pizza guests over Zoom.  My 2020 pizza campaign involves renting a recreational vehicle (RV) in Las Vegas and traveling to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming - hoping to hit pizzerias in Nevada, Utah, Idaho and Wyoming along the way.  Know a top-notch pizzeria out West? Please keep the recommendations coming!

My rules are clear, and I am determined to adhere to all three of them. They are…
(1) Eat at least one slice of pizza a day
(2) With at least one other person
(3) At a different pizza place each day


As with past years, I encourage everyone reading this to eat pizza every day of October as well. If you can't stomach 31 days, then settle for 30 (or 29, or 28…)  No matter how you plan to observe National Pizza Month 2020, always feel free to follow me in my pursuit of the 31 days on this journal.
