DAY 8: OCTOBER 8th, 2016

LOCATION: Bodega Pizza (4455 Broadway, New York, NY 10040)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman, Maddy Mako, Angela Demanti, Noel Dinneen

ORDER: 2 slice of Margherita, 1 slice of "Tribe Called Fresh" (Tomato, fresh mozzarella, pepperoni, carmelized onions, roasted red peppers, roasted garlic, sweet sausage), 1 slice of "Paul Revere" (Tomato, mozzarella, sweet sausage, hot cherry peppers, red onions), 1 slice of Love Supreme (ham, mushrooms, black truffle oil, ricotta, fresh mozzarella), 1 slice of "Juicy" (mushroom, prosciutto, artichokes, black olives, tomato sauce and mozzarella)

REVIEW:
The best kind of bodega. Bodega Pizza's name and decor serves as an ironic homage to the disappearing iconic yellow awning'd all-purpose grocery stores of yesteryear, while the courteous staff and talented chefs serve the gourmet pizzas of today. In keeping with this theme, there are quirky displays of paper towels, dish soap and sugary cereals in the storefront window. Once inside, you'll find a wood-fired pizza oven in back, ample seating at picnic tables fashioned out of reclaimed wood and a fully loaded bar stocked with craft brews making this Bodega unlike any other. If you are a topping lover, Bodega Pizza has you covered in more ways than one. All of the fun sounding signature pies are comprised of copious amounts of high quality ingredients served on a slightly charred crust. I recommend ordering fewer toppings so they cook as evenly as the crisp underside. My favorite was the Margherita. The melted creamy fresh mozzarella cheese and rich tomato sauce tasted so perfect with the basil garnish, I found myself wishing the toppings extended all the way to the edge. Go now before the lines form and the prices go up. It's currently cash only but, assuming you have enough of it, you can finally get away with taking your date to a Bodega!

Day 9

MISCELLANEOUS:
Mother of the birthday girl
Robin and the lady bugs
1. Robin Rothman sang at Lorina Ladrillono's daughter's birthday. The theme was lady bugs and, yes, I had a slice of pizza.  It was from Avellino's which I had and liked in 2014.

Sean, Maddy, Noel, Angela, and Robin
2. Angela Demanti is amazing at You Don't Know Jack and anything trivia related.  Recruit her for your pub trivia team - I did.

Biscuit #lgm
3. I met Biscuit.  Biscuit is Maddy Mako's dog, loves the Mets and people. Maddy went to take her out for a walk and she preferred to hang out with us in the living room.

4. Noel Dinneen and I both love the state of Maine.  He even knows how to make lobster chowder.
