DAY 1: OCTOBER 1st, 2016

LOCATION: Pasquale Jones (187 Mulberry St., New York, NY 10012)

GUEST(S): Robin Rothman, Kevin Bitterman, Jason Bohon

ORDER:  2 slices of Diavola (spicy Neapolitan salami, provolone piccante, mint), 1.5 slices of Little Neck Clam (Clams, Parsley, Garlic, Lemon and Cream), 1.5 slices of Margherita (Tomato, Mozzarella di Bufala and Basil), 1.5 slices of Tartufo (Mozzarella di Bufala and Burgundy Truffle)

REVIEW:
Premium pizza at a premium. Situated at the north end of Little Italy, Pasquale Jones offers high quality food, high end wine, high class service in a highly regarded area at costs that are not surprisingly "high." Opening Pasquale Jones in the space vacated by another pizzeria, the owners used experience gleaned from Charlie Bird, their prior venture, to ensure this chic new restaurant has the recipe to last. That recipe is simple: exquisite comfort food in a unique yet comfortable setting. The basic Margherita is anything but basic combining creamy fresh mozzarella di bufala cheese and savory tomato sauce on a hand-crafted crust perfectly char-speckled in one of two imported Neapolitan wood-fired dome ovens. Share one of these and something more exotic like the rich signature Little Neck Clam pie and pair it with a glass of wine from their extensive list for a night to remember.  The only thing difficult to swallow might be the price - but remember that it includes gratuity as Pasquale Jones is a "non-tipping restaurant." Expect a line when you arrive and don't be surprised if I'm in it.

MISCELLANEOUS:

Robin, Jason and Kevin

1. Robin Rothman, Jason Bohon, Kevin Bitterman and I had intended to go to the Renaissance Faire in upstate New York but the rain washed out our plans. Pizza was and is always a delicious contingency plan.
2. Jason Bohon taught us what he learned the first time he played craps. Now I am looking forward to giving it a try.
Tootsie Rolls in the bathroom!
3. We all like flavored tootsie rolls and were thrilled to find them available in the restroom.

4. We rounded out the evening by walking down to Chinatown to the Chinese Ice Cream factory for some dessert.
