Day 13, 2013: Sacco Pizza (Hell's Kitchen, NYC)

DAY 13: OCTOBER 13th, 2013

LOCATION: Sacco Pizza (819 9th Ave, New York, NY)

ORDER: 1 slice of cheese

GUEST(S): Carly Heims, Lance Kushner, Zander Wahl, Chuck Divak

REVIEW:
The definition of the New York street slice. Sacco, more than most other pizzerias, epitomizes the street slice simply because it has a walk-up window directly on the street itself.  Never mind the fact this Hell's Kitchen institution has been defining the quintessential New York style for over fifty years.  Though ownership has changed, the recipe for the long triangular thin slice of oily cheese and acidic tomato sauce has remained in tact.  I recommend folding it and draining off any additional grease especially if you are going to play in a softball game afterward.  In the event you opt to eat your slice at the pizzeria, follow the narrow pathway around the oven to the dining area in the back.  There are four tables, two drink coolers, zero bathrooms and no frills.  Sacco is as old school as it gets.  It likely hasn't changed in decades and I hope it never does.
