PIZZA REPORT: 28 is a perfect number, Mathematically (the sum of its factors equals itself) and pretty near perfect, Neopolitan-ically. Although I have never been to Naples, I recognize the traditional Neopolitan style in both the names of the pizzas and the manner in which they are cooked. All are wood fired with hand sculpted crust, San Marzano tomatoes and creamy buffalo fresh mozzarella cheese. The Tartufo is sweetened with a dash of truffle oil which might not be Neopolitan but it certainly is delicious.
ATMOSPHERE: Conveniently located near no less than 8 trains, Number 28 invites cold New Yorkers in off the street with its warm, wood burning fire. On warmer days, sit outside. Wherever you sit you will be treated well by the Italian accented wait staff. Our waiter, unbenounced to me, even went next door to get fresh mozzarella cheese. Unless you go during a discounted period (I read there are discounts between 6-7:30) bring plenty of cash ($16 with tax and tip) and also bring your appetite.

MISC:1. Our waiter had a thick Italian accent and, in addition to going to a local grocer to get fresh mozzarella cheese, also picked up my video camera and started recording. The footage was a bit dark but I lightened it so you can see us both pretending to be candid. 2. This was a belated celebration of Erik Tanouye's birthday. I even got a haircut for the ocassion.
