Day 11, 2007: Li'l Frankies (E. Village, NYC)

LOCATION: Lil Frankies (1st st and 1st Avenue, NYC)
GUEST(S): Nate Shelkey
ORDER: 7/8th slices of individual Margherita, 1/8th of salemi picante
PIZZA REPORT:Lil Frankly, my dear, it's delicious! Want a wood fired brick oven pizza crust topped with spicy salemi and fresh mozzarella cheese? Well, order the salemi picante. Want a more traditionally Neopolitan margherita complete with olives and fresh basil? Order that then! Either way, you won't be sorry. These pizzas are thin enough to avoid the guilt and thick enough to hit the spot.
ATMOSPHERE: If you are at 1st [street] and 1st [avenue], then this is the FIRST place you should go! It will probably be open too. Lil Frankie's is open for lunch, dinner, and beyond if you happen upon it while hanging out late in the East Village. It's a great date place but beware of the darkness, you might not get a good look at him or her. Heck, I even had a hard time getting a good look at the menu. There seems to be plenty of seating, including two dining areas, a back patio, and bar seating. It's cash only and bring plenty of it since a pizza alone (with tax and tip) will likely run you about $14-15.
VERDICT: 4 out of 5
MISC:1. Nate Shelkey took me to his nearby apartment to meet his kitty cats.
2. Other East Village neighbors which drop in to Lil Frankies include Mike Myers and Sophia Coppola.
