REVIEW:
A gateway to Sicily. "Benvenuto!" the host proclaimed in his native Italian as I entered Norma Gastronomia Siciliana's cozy Kips Bay dining area.  Roughly translated, the name means "the art of Sicilian cooking" which only addresses one facet a patron of Norma will experience.  This place is Sicily! The food, the drinks, the decor, the staff, the entire vibe is authentically Sicilian. Located in middle of "hurry up and go already" Manhattan, Norma is a peaceful haven where you and your companions will not be rushed as you dine on some of the best food this side of the Mediterranean.  Over the eons, the island of Sicily has become a cultural melting pot based on its fertile soil, strategic location, and trade.  Bringing the best of his native homeland, owner and chef Salvatore Fraterrigo built his menu from the ground up, literally, by sourcing the best ingredients. One of the most popular items is the pizza. Cooked in a wood-fired brick oven with the name "Norma" tiled upon it, the traditional and signature pies are as authentic as they are delicious. As much as I enjoyed the pizza, I coveted everything everyone else ordered. Whether I come back on a date or a nice family meal, I must return to Norma Gastronomia Siciliana.  Until then, Ciao!
